Club Racing 13-12-20

Glen Riley notched up four wins to show he is the man to beat . Great racing in south west wind with competitors opting half and half for A and B rigs. Good to see two new boats built and designed by owners Shane Tobin and Neil Deverell  with both taking race wins

2020 Northland IOM Champs

It was a very testing time for the thirty three sailors competing in the North Island IOM Championships at Lake Manuwai during the weekend.

Wind was light and shifty and this was a big challenge to RO Rob Nelson to lay fair race courses. Only ten races were completed; however, the old saying: ‘The cream always rises to the top,’ had Ian Vickers taking yet another regatta win. Not only his new boat from his latest design was first but Reuben Muir and Glen Riley were also second and third and they found the V11 IOM boat extra slippery.

Overall everyone seemed to enjoy the regatta with competitors coming from as far south as Wellington.

Provisional results

Club Racing 1-11-20

Roddy Booth  back after his trip to the South Island again was  King and dominated the racing although Glen Riley was pushing him at times. Great to see a eighteen boat fleet

Club Racing 6-9-20

Mixed A and B rigs to deal with the gusty North West Breeze. Good fleet of twelve boats made for close racing. Roddy Booth again showed his supremacy and was top on points at the end of the day .

Club Racing 23-8-20

Northerly breeze created very shifty conditions at the lake on Sunday. The tough guys were rewarded as when the rain came the not so tough went home . Consistency paid for Neil who was top scorer at the end of the day

Club Racing 9-8-20

Perfect days sailing with fourteen boats on the start line with 12-18 knot southwest wind . We all have to sort our starts out as in the videos it does seem a few were over and this will be very costly when sailing in the Northland Champs Neil snuck in to be top of scoreboard at the end of the day
