There are several cabin type accommodation near the Lakes. You may have noticed them on your way there and back. There is a top Ten Holiday park North of Kaihu – still some distance to travel though.

Then not much until you get back to Dargaville where there are several motels. I would suggest Hobson’s Choice. Quality meals are to be had at Northern Wairoa Hotel which also has accommodation rated 4 star. Jo’s Home Cookery and Blah Blah Blah Cafe are also good for meals. and there are several specialist restaurants Shiraz Indian, New Asian Chinese, Pad Thai and Rann Ahaan Thai Aroi Dee.

Other places which you could consider are Dargaville Holiday Park and Motels and Baylys Beach Holiday Park both of these have cabin type accommodation as well as camping facilities. If you did consider The Baylys Beach option the Sharkey’s restaurant could be an option for meals.
